Federal Laws Regarding the Number of Hours You Can Work
If you are 14 or 15 you can work:
- Outside school after 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM, except from June 1 through Labor Day, when you can work until 9pm
- No more than 18 hours during a school week
- 3 hours on a school day
- 8 hours on a non-school day
- 40 hours on non-school weeks
If you are over 16 you can work:
- Any day
- Any time of day
- Any number of hours
- No restriction on the number of hours
